swyp_cardAlthough the concept of SWYP card cannot be really considered a novelty, a lot of exciting developments have appeared to make electronic payment more interesting and secure, facilitating the use of the card, which has metal housing and rechargeable battery. Basically, it is suitable to incorporate more different cards: a single SWYP card can store 25 cards, whether they are bankcards, credit cards, loyalty cards or gift cards.

It can absolutely be considered an innovation, when a card has an integrated display and a navigation button to select the card we want to use at that very moment. This card transforms itself into another card, pushing a single button.  The card used by us more frequently will be on the top of the list, and the details related to the card will be shown in the display. A smart phone is required for the operation and handling. If an SWYP loses the connection with the phone, it will be automatically closed down, and can only be re-operated using a PIN code. It can be used in bank ATMs and shop terminals as any card. The SWYP card is now available only in the United States.

There is another smart card, the Plastc card, which is very similar to the SWYP card. Roughly it has the same capabilities as the SWYP, as it also has a display and encrypted PIN code. The difference between them is that the Plastc card has NFC technology, includes chip and is capable of contactless payment to make electronic payment easier and more comfortable, just like with a contactless card. Contrary to SWXP, Plastc is suitable to store 20 cards only. For both cards, the application loadable onto the smart phone will be accessible at Android and iOS platforms.

For the future, it may really be a useful innovation, as people’s purses are full of different cards, and if they have the possibility to store all cards in a single one, most of them would choose this solution. Considering both the advantages and the fact that a significant part of the society is open to the innovative ideas, there can be no doubt of the spread of smart contactless cards. Payment would be carried out more comfortably and easily.
