In Hungary, Inventors\u2019 Day is celebrated every year on June 13 in memory of Albert Szent-Gy\u00f6rgyi, who registered his patent for vitamin C in 1941. He is one of the 16 Hungarian inventors who have been awarded the Nobel Prize.<\/p>\n
In addition to our Nobel Prize-winning scientists, many other Hungarian inventors have contributed to the natural sciences and modern life, with their world-famous inventions. Just think of the safety match (J\u00e1nos Irinyi), the computer (J\u00e1nos Neumann), the ballpoint pen (L\u00e1szl\u00f3 B\u00edr\u00f3), the Rubik\u2019s Cube (Ern\u0151 Rubik), the Ford Model T (J\u00f3zsef Galamb), the Volkswagen Beetle (B\u00e9la Bar\u00e9nyi), the helicopter (T\u00f3dor K\u00e1rm\u00e1n), synthetic medicines (Gedeon Richter), the \u201c saviour of mothers\u201d (Ign\u00e1c Semmelweis), the colour television (P\u00e9ter K\u00e1roly Goldmark), the telephone exchange and the predecessor of today\u2019s radio, the \u201cTelephone Herald\u201d \/ telephone news announcer (Tivadar Pusk\u00e1s), the refrigerator (Le\u00f3 Szil\u00e1rd), or the solar energy and passive houses (M\u00e1ria Telkes).<\/p>\n
Holograms are one of the most common security features on documents, banknotes and security forms, as well as other products that require protection against counterfeiting. Holography was invented by D\u00e9nes G\u00e1bor, a Hungarian physicist of British citizenship, in 1947. He discovered a way to capture images that allowed more information to be reproduced than any previously known method. Since it could store – apparently – all information, D\u00e9nes G\u00e1bor called it holography, by merging two Greek words meaning ‘whole’, ‘complete’, and ‘writing’, ‘document’. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1971 for the development of holography.<\/p>\n
After scientific experiments and research, the hologram was also discovered by industry, education and the arts. Security technology also relies heavily on the solution: holographic stickers prove the authenticity of expensive, branded products, and the integrity of technical devices. Hologram technology is also used in automotive design, medical modelling and optical data storage.<\/p>\n
We who are constantly working ensure that the security printing products we produce are as tamper-proof as possible, know holograms well. A hologram is an optically changing security element. There are structure- and colour-changing 2D holograms, 3D holograms that can depict images, furthermore, the holograms we use can be metallized or transparent. Holograms are used on various ID documents, bank and credit cards, banknotes, and hologram stripes can be found on tax stamps, meal vouchers, and security labels. In addition to the protection function, the use of holograms also gives the product a unique look.<\/p>\n
